OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is useful for psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis treatment; it slows the loss of water through the skin layers. Olive oil is also beneficial for the skin and hair. Overly dry skin or sun-damaged skin can be soothed with the application of olive oil. Some people apply olive oil to the skin to prevent wrinkles; it also promotes shiny and full-bodied hair and a healthy scalp.   Some scientific studies have indicated that olive oil may reduce the effects of aging.

The researchers believe constituents of olive oil, such as flavonoids, squalane and polyphenols, may help to protect against cancer. Flavonoids and polyphenols are antioxidants, which help prevent cell damage from oxygen-containing chemicals called free radicals.

JOJOBA OIL

Natural jojoba oil serves as an excellent moisturizing agent with exceptional spread and lubrication properties and leaves a rich velvety non-oily feel on the skin while retarding water loss and enhancing the flexibility and suppleness of the skin.

Jojoba is completely miscible with the natural sebum of the skin, and when used on the skin, forms a very thin, non-greasy lipoid layer.

MANGO BUTTER

Mango butter is obtained from the kernels of the mango tree. It has a high content of stearic acid which makes it similar to cocoa butter. Mango butter has good emolliency and lends protection against the sun. It is said to prevent drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles. Mango butter also reduces degeneration of skin cells and restores elasticity. It can be used "as is" to provide relief from the dryness of eczema and psoriasis.

ALOE VERA OIL

Throughout history, aloe vera has been known for its healing properties. Historical and religious documents of the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Chinese, Indians, and Arabians report its internal and external use and effectiveness. Aloe vera gel can be effective in healing various skin disorders including cancers, ulcers, lesions and general wounds. Aloe is also a well-known burn remedy and is used in trauma centers throughout the states. Research has shown that aloe vera gel penetrates human skin almost four times faster than water. When combined with other healing agents, aloe vera helps these substances penetrate the skin easily carrying them to the deeper layers of the skin. Aloe is believed to have an anti-aging effect on skin. Aloe vera also acts as an anti-inflammatory pain-reliever. The anti-inflammatory properties make it useful in the treatment of acne and other dermatological problems. Aloe vera can reduce the irritating effects that radiation has on the skin and has also been found to help accelerate tissue repair and normal cell growth.

SWEET ALMOND OIL

Sweet almond oil is a great emollient for softening and conditioning the skin. It is well suited for eczema, psoriasis and itchy, dry and inflamed skin. It is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E. Sweet almond oil is light and penetrates easily making it a great massage oil or after bath oil. Use it in creams, lotions, lotion bars, balms, scrubs, massage oils and soap.

SUNFLOWER OIL

Sunflower oil is very high in essential fatty acids. It helps to moisturize, regenerate and condition the skin. Sunflower oil can be used as a main oil or in a blend for lotions, salt scrubs, bath oils and massage oils. It is good for mature, sensitive, dry or damaged skin.

HEMP SEED OIL

This imported hemp seed oil is pressed from the finest seeds available. Hemp oil has the lowest amount of saturated fatty acids and the highest amount of the polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) making it a key nutritive ingredient in anti-inflammatory skin care formulations. Hemp oil is said to aid in the healing of skin lesions, dry skin, inflammations of the skin and joints. Combine hemp oil with herbal infusions and butters to create healing balms and salves.

MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL

Meadowfoam is an herbaceous winter annual plant native to the pacific Northwest area of the United States. The oil from the Meadowfoam plant was recognized for its outstanding oxidative stability. It is unique in that it contains over 98% fatty acids. Meadowfoam oil was developed to replace sperm whale oil in the 1970's, in an effort to protect the species. Meadowfoam oil remains liquid at room temperature despite its high molecular weight. It is one of the most stable lipids known, and Meadowfoam oil is so stable that it lends stability to other oils. It, therefore, is useful in applications where you are using less stable oils such as sweet almond, kukui nut, evening primrose, borage, and hemp. Use Meadowfoam oil in lotion bars and lip balms to extend shelf life.   Meadowfoam oil is said to moisturize the skin and hair better than most oils, and it helps prevent moisture loss. In lipsticks and lip balms, it helps revitalize dry, cracked lips and keeps them moist longer.

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E oil is often prescribed for topical use in pregnant women to prevent stretch marks on the abdomen. It can help heal acne, promote wound healing and prevent scarring from eczema or psoriasis. Topical vitamin E moisturizes the skin from within, reduces UV induced damage, helps to protect against ozone damage and decreases erythema (redness of the skin) after sun exposure. This makes it appropriate for use in sun care products including lip balms.

COCONUT OIL

Virgin coconut oil is a light, penetrating oil with excellent shelf life and stability. Virgin Coconut Oil performs similarly to Kukui, Jojoba, Illipe and Shea butter. In countries where it is produced, it is a food source and has been found to be the best source of monolaurin, a well known antiseptic substance found in breast milk.

CANDELILLA WAX

Candelilla wax is a natural vegetable wax which is hard, brittle, slightly tacky and light yellow in color.  It has superior molding properties making it a good casting wax.  It is also used in many cosmetic applications when the product requires a good glide property.
